"The Cowboy Song"

Momma, I guess it's been about a year since I been home,

And I'm still runnin' cattle and I still ain't got a phone

I'm glad to hear my brother's third son was born last week,

But I couldn't come because my truck broke down by the creek

You say I should settle down and find myself a wife

But I think I'm satisfied with my ramblin' life

You say the right girl will help to save my soul

Change my mind, change my heart and make my life a whole

But I never found that girl, I've found a man instead,

He shares my ranch and he shares my truck, and now he shares my bed

I love him, he loves me, and I think it's plain to see

Momma, he is the right girl for me.

He is the right girl for me

I love him,

He is the right girl for me

I love to feel the scratch of his whiskers on my thigh

And he makes a chili so hot your head will fry

And we sit by the fire and read 'til late at night

And sit and hold each other in the flickering twilight

And you've already got ten grandkids, that's counting little Lance

And I think you'd really like my man if you gave him half a chance

I never found that girl, I've found a man instead,

He shares my ranch and he shares my truck, and now he shares my bed

I love him, he loves me, and I think it's plain to see

Momma, he is the right girl for me.

He is the right girl for me

I love him,

He is the right girl for me

I need you to accept him, to love him if you can

I love you, and I love pa, but I also love my man

So please try to be happy and stop dropping hints

I'm not wearing dresses, or making curtains out of chintz

I'm living like I want to, with a man I adore

And I'm not coming home until you open your door

I never found that girl, I've found a man instead,

He shares my ranch and he shares my truck, and now he shares my bed

I love him, he loves me, and I think it's plain to see

Momma, he is the right girl for me.

He is the right girl for me

I love him,

He is the right girl for me

He is the right girl for me
